2023 Spring/Summer Internships

WildCare offers internships in our Wildlife Hospital during the spring and summer months. Interns have the opportunity to work hands-on with our wild patients and gain extensive experience learning from our medical staff.

Approximate 2023 Internship Terms

Interns will commit to a 3-month or a 6-month internship term. Start dates are flexible.

  • June - July - August
  • August - September - October

WildCare Volunteer & Events Assistant Internship

Job Title: Volunteer & Events Assistant Intern
Department: Volunteer Services
Supervisor: Volunteer & Events Manager
Stipend: $305.00 monthly

Position Summary

This position requires a full six month commitment from March 15, 2023 to September 15, 2023.
Applicants must be 18 or older and be able to commit to 20 hours per week (hours/days vary). The
Volunteer & Events Assistant Intern will primarily assist the WildCare Volunteer & Events
Manager with administrative tasks along with event support.
Ideally, the Intern will have an interest in some or all of the following:

● Animal Welfare & Wildlife Rehabilitation
● Volunteer Management
● Event Management
● Administrative Work
● Nonprofit Work

Educational Benefits

This internship is ideal for candidates looking to learn more about and gain experience within the world of
non-profit volunteer management and event planning, with a focus on animal welfare. While this position
will be especially beneficial to those with career interest in the non-profit sector, the skills learned through
the administrative, volunteer management & training, program development, and event planning and
execution will be invaluable to the intern’s preparation for a leadership role in any sector.

Responsibilities & Expectations

● Reliable, prompt, and responsible.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including quick email response time.
● Proficiency in Google Suite, MS Office Suite, and ability to learn additional databases.
● Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and work on many types of projects.
● Maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and have strong interpersonal skills.
● Reliable transportation to and from WildCare and other locations as needed for events.
● Ability to lift 30 pounds, sit and stand for long periods, and communicate clearly in English.
● Work independently as well as with individuals and teams from various departments.

Terms of Internship

● Intern must be 18 or older (by March 2023) and be able to commit to 20 hours per week.
● Intern must provide their own transportation to WildCare at 76 Albert Park Ln. in San Rafael.
● Intern must arrange for their own housing.
● Intern must have evening and weekend availability and schedule flexibility.
● The internship comes with a modest stipend.
