This year’s contest garnered over 200 entries, all amazing shots of the nature and wildlife of California.

Our judges really struggled to pick their favorites from so many great shots, but below are their top picks in each of our entry categories:

1. California Wild Birds in Their Natural Settings
2. California Wild Animals (Other) in Their Natural Settings
3. General Nature
4. Living with Wildlife

In early December we will announce the first place winner in each category, the Best in Show photograph, and the People’s Choice Award winner, determined here by your online votes. Voting will run through November 3, 2024.

How do you vote? Peruse the photos (click to see them full size), and then scroll down or click here for the voting form.

You may vote for more than one photo, but votes will only be counted once based on the email address you use to submit. In other words, you may vote for as many images as you like, but you can’t vote for the same image more than one time.

The People’s Choice Award winner will be determined by counting the votes for each photo, after removing duplicate votes (if any.)
