Events Lead
Position Title: Events Lead

Position Overview
The Events Lead manages WildCare’s organizational events, advancing fundraising goals and delivering mission-centered experiences for our community. This role oversees planning and execution of a focused slate of fundraising, community, and internal appreciation events. A member of WildCare’s Development Team, the Events Lead ensures events are mission-focused, well run, and meet or exceed financial goals.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong project management, creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments while managing multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Event Planning & Execution
- Build and manage the annual events calendar in alignment with Development goals and organizational priorities.
- Serve as project lead for assigned WildCare events, including planning, timeline, expense tracking run-of-show, and day-of management.
- Plan and execute a focused portfolio of mission-centered events (e.g., capital campaign, receptions, VIP experiences, donor appreciation events), community events (e.g., open houses, grand opening), and internal appreciation events (e.g., staff/holiday gatherings).
2. Committees, Volunteers & Stakeholders
- Steward and manage event committees (e.g., Gala Committee); prepare agendas and materials; facilitate effective meetings.
- Coordinate event volunteers, including recruitment, assignments, training, and onsite leadership.
- Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to ensure staffing needs are met.
3. Auction, Raffle, and Revenue-Support Functions
- Provide fundraising element management (e.g., auctions and raffles), including procurement and value tracking, marketing timelines, pick-up and delivery coordination, display set-up and reporting.
- Ensure event elements support established revenue goals and optimum guest experience.
4. Logistics, Vendors & Budget
- Manage all event logistics, including venues, catering, A/V, rentals, décor, permits, and insurance.
- Source and manage vendors; negotiate contracts in collaboration with leadership.
- Track and report on budgets and expenses, partner with Finance on timely payment of event-related invoices.
- Maintain a detailed vendor database with historical costs, engagement records and points of contact.
5. Fundraising, Communications & Promotion
- Partner with the Director of Advancement and the Sr. Development Manager to align events with revenue goals, event budgets, and mission-centered donor experiences.
- Collaborate with Communications to ensure consistent branding, promotions, and event messaging.
- Coordinate with Program Directors to integrate program content and staff participation into events.
- Support the pursuit of press coverage and community recognition opportunities (e.g., awards, “Best of” lists).
6. Evaluation & Professional Development
- Track key event metrics (e.g., attendance, revenue, expenses, guest feedback, volunteer hours, press coverage).
- Produce post-event reports with recommendations for improvement.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and apply new learnings to enhance WildCare’s events.
- Scale ad-hoc or non-fundraising/donor stewardship events to available capacity; use volunteers and vendors strategically to meet peak demands.
- Flex hours around major events; schedule recovery time post-event.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of event planning and coordination experience, preferably in nonprofit or mission-driven settings.
- Experience managing large-scale fundraising events.
- Strong project management, vendor negotiation, and budgeting skills.
- Skilled at working with committees and volunteers; calm and solutions-oriented under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and event/project management programs.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- A strong affinity for WildCare’s mission.
Preferred
- Experience with nonprofit fundraising or donor engagement.

Director of Communications & Marketing
Position Title: Director of Communications & Marketing
Reporting to: Executive Director

Media, PR, and Communications
Under the direction of the Executive Director and in close coordination with other directors, this position is responsible for setting and implementing an innovative strategic direction of communication, maintaining consistency of messaging, and supporting a strong operational foundation for all media and public communications efforts, including:
- Maintaining a consistent brand, voice and message for WildCare across all public-facing channels and touchpoints
- Driving WildCare’s regular and proactive media outreach, coordinating with the Executive Director and department heads to position WildCare’s events, priorities, and issues effectively
- Initiating, writing, and sending frequent and timely press releases and media alerts to a wide range of media outlets, including the ongoing refresh and expansion of media lists to maximize coverage
- Responding to media inquiries, doing on-camera and off-camera interviews, approving media content and providing collateral (video, photography) to media as requested (These requests often can happen outside normal business hours.)
- Maintaining and stewarding strong relationships with reporters and media outlets while proactively cultivating new contacts—including regional and national outlets—to position WildCare as the “go-to” source for wildlife information
- Overseeing the editorial direction and final review of the WildCare print newsletter magazine, with support for content gathering, story development, and photography coordination (2 editions annually)
- Creating and overseeing a structured process to consistently gather and deliver compelling stories and photos from WildCare’s wildlife medicine, nature education, and advocacy work, reliably supplying Development with the content needed for fundraising, donor stewardship, and external relations.
- Creating public-facing content for advocacy campaigns including petitions, sign-on letters, and surveys
- Partnering with hospital staff to make sure that all public facing content involving wildlife care on every platform is preapproved to meet state and federal Fish and Wildlife requirements, as well as our organizational ‘voice and tone’ when speaking about animals and patient cares
- Leading social media strategy and oversight; supervising and mentoring the Social Media Manager; staying current with evolving trends and platforms; establishing an annual proactive strategy with clear success metrics; overseeing and participating in content creation; and driving audience growth
- Supporting the Elevate WildCare capital campaign through regular, high-quality written project updates and compelling photos supplied to the Development Department
- Cultivating and managing opportunities for WildCare presentations to professional groups and associations; proactively seeking and securing new speaking and presentation opportunities; and developing and delivering compelling presentations that support WildCare’s programmatic reach, awareness, and donor community growth
- Partnering on special donor tours and fundraising presentations as requested
- Copy editing and proofreading WildCare materials, and overseeing consistent mission alignment and application of the WildCare Style Guide across digital and print content produced by all departments
- Providing graphic design support for posters, invitations, brochures, and other innovative collateral

Advocacy
Responsible for leading communications-driven advocacy that strengthens community engagement and positions WildCare as a trusted voice for wildlife and habitat protection:
- Developing and implementing campaigns that raise awareness about local wildlife and habitat protection issues and engaging community members in meaningful advocacy actions.
- Collaborating with education and program teams to produce and distribute materials informing the public about urgent conservation challenges and WildCare’s key policy positions.
- Representing and networking on behalf of WildCare with policymakers, local organizations, and the media to promote evidence-based solutions for wildlife and environmental stewardship.
Website
Responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and implementation of WildCare’s online presence, including:
- Creating and maintaining all website content including pages, posts, and other digital elements.
- Leading the development and coordination of web content across all departments of WildCare
- Partner with external website consultant for the planning of web communications and maintaining a long-term web content plan
- Implementing the web communications plan and editorial schedule
- Planning, writing, implementing and sending at least weekly emails, including eNews email communications and “stand-alone” messages
- Maintaining internal photography and videography database of photo and video collateral
- Serving as technical contact, including working with copy and code, performing testing and ensuring functionality of the website etc.
- Acting as project lead for WordPress as necessary

Wildlife Camp Counselor
Position Title: Wildlife Camp Counselor
Reporting to: Nature Education and Camp Manager
Employment Type: Part time, temporary
Salary Range: $18/hour with $1.50/hour bonus at end of summer for each hour worked when commitment is completed in full
POSITION SUMMARY
WildCare offers Summer Wildlife Day Camp sessions from June 15 through August 14, 2026. Each session runs Monday-Friday with a different theme each week geared towards different age groups. Camp will be conducted indoors at Dominican University on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Tuesday and Thursday camp will be conducted outdoors in local parks and preserves. Wildlife Camps serve 4 through 11 year olds with 16 campers per session. The Wildlife Camp Counselor will work five days per week (Mon. through Fri.) and reports to the Camp Manager and Education Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist Camp Manager with conducting Wildlife Camp classes
2. Supervising individual campers, small groups, or the whole class as needed
3. Prepare and organize materials as needed for projects in classes
4. Assist with the supervision of volunteer teen camp assistants
5. Assist in keeping camp materials and camp room in good order
6. Assist with the setup and clean up of the museum before and after camp each day
7. Will act as a back-up leader to support the Camp Manager as needed.
8. Other duties may be assigned
The Wildlife Camp Counselor is required to attend a four-hour training on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 1:00-5:00 pm.
Qualifications:
To be considered for an interview, applicants must meet all qualifications listed below. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, enjoys working with children and being outside and who also has some knowledge of or interest in California natural history and wildlife. The candidate must have reliable transportation to travel to WildCare as well as off-site locations in Marin.
- High school diploma required
- Some college work preferred
- Must enjoy working with children and teaching
- Previous experience working with children
- Ability to perform work without direct supervision
- Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs on occasion
- Must feel comfortable standing for extended periods of time
- Must be able to hike up to 4 miles
Compensation:
This is an hourly, non-exempt, seasonal position without benefits. A typical work day is 8:30 am – 3:30 pm with an average of 35 hours per week. Dates of employment are June 15 – August 14, 2026. There is a one-week break during the week of July 13-17. Pay rate is $18/hour with $1.50/hour bonus at the end of the summer for each hour worked when commitment is completed.

• Additional shifts may be available up to 40 hrs per week covering staff vacation/holidays.
• After Sept. 1, possibility for additional shifts depending on staffing needs during move from interim into new hospital, holiday and vacation coverage.
Compensation: $18/hour
• No benefits other than sick pay earned.
• There is a 30 day probationary period.
• The position is open to begin training as soon as hired/possible, ideally by March 1,2026.
• The official start of position is April 1, 2025. Review of applicants and interviews to begin immediately.
Position Summary

Their primary responsibility is to ensure the highest quality and consistency of patient care, and volunteer satisfaction, through volunteer management in both the songbird and clinic branches of the hospital. This is achieved by working with, training and guiding the volunteers in husbandry, support tasks, as well as providing direct, hands-on patient care, all within the context of existing protocols.
The WA I must be able to work collaboratively with equal sensitivity to the care of the animals and the needs and requirements of the volunteers and staff in order to build and maintain a respectful and professional culture within rehabilitation functions and throughout WildCare.
Managerial Responsibilities
• Maintain smoothly operating shifts so that all of the tasks required to ensure excellent patient care and husbandry are completed by the end of each day for both songbird hospital and clinic animals. Duties include but are not limited to: orchestrating the flow of volunteers, daily feeding and cleaning of all patients, maintaining adequate supplies and ensuring that preparation for the following day’s operations are complete by the end of the day.
• Enforcing the implementation of WildCare patient care protocols by all volunteers and interns.
• When volunteer supervisors are unavailable, providing direct volunteer training and oversight of shifts in the clinic and the birdroom.
• Actively train and mentor Hospital Volunteers and Interns.
• Assist in teaching training classes for hospital interns and volunteers.
• Attend staff meetings and volunteer huddles.
• Build and maintain a collaborative, respectful and professional culture within rehabilitation functions, and help build and maintain the same culture across WildCare.
Animal Care Responsibilities
• It is understood that all of the responsibilities listed here are performed with the supervision of the staff Veterinarian, Director of Animal Care and Managers.
• For more advanced applicants, animal care duties may also include assisting senior staff in intake and physical exams of patients, administering necessary medical treatments.
• Assisting the Raptor Reunite Team by scouting, finding sites, locating nest/parents, and assisting with the reunite itself including bringing the raptor and supplies to the reunite.
• Assisting the squirrel and raccoon foster care teams with reunites by bringing healthy orphans that have been evaluated and approved for reunite by senior medical staff to finding locations, setting up a reunite box, and monitoring for a successful or failed reunite. This also includes communicating with finders and homeowners about the reunite and necessary actions they must take to make the reunite possible.
• In order to provide a clear separation of duties, it is understood that those who choose to provide home foster services as a volunteer, will not syringe feed, tube feed, or clean baby mammals during their scheduled and paid working hours.
• Assist with selection of release sites and coordination of patient releases.
• Must be cross-trained in and comfortable working in both Clinic and Songbird Hospital.
Qualifications
• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year (“baby season”) providing hands-on husbandry for wild mammal and avian species in a wildlife hospital setting.
• Specific experience required: must be able to syringe feed all ages of nestling songbirds.
• Ideally be proficient at tube feeding pigeons/doves, but not required.
• Basic wildlife intake and stabilization skills ideal but not required.
• Basic capture, handling and restraint skills of most avian, mammal, and reptile species.
• Due to nature of responsibilities with controlled substances, must pass state and federal background check and have no pertinent criminal history.
• Ideally have or be able/willing to get rabies prophylactic vaccines and titer check every 2 years.
• Computer literate, comfortable with Google and Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook) and other basic programs.
• Must be able to lift/move 50 pounds, endure long workdays in a physically and emotionally demanding setting while maintaining focus, accuracy and physical activities required by the job.

Position Summary
The Wildlife Technician I (WTI) reports to the Clinic Hospital Manager (CHM) and Songbird Hospital Manager (SHM) with animal treatment and volunteer management in both the songbird and clinic branches of the hospital.
WildCare’s Wildlife Hospital is divided into two sections, the Songbird Hospital, where we treat only songbird patients (including pigeons and baby corvids), and the Clinic, which treats all the rest of our avian patients (raptors, water and shorebirds, adult corvids), as well as mammals, reptiles and amphibians.
The primary goal is to ensure the highest quality and consistency of patient care through direct, hands-on care, management techniques, supervision and training of volunteers and interns in the Clinic and Songbird Hospital and enforcement of existing protocols.
The WTI must be able to work collaboratively with equal sensitivity to the care of the animals and the needs and requirements of the volunteers and staff in order to build and maintain a respectful and professional culture within rehabilitation functions and throughout WildCare.
Animal Care Responsibilities
• It is understood that all of the responsibilities listed here are performed with the supervision of the staff Veterinarian, Director of Animal Care, Assistant Director of Animal Care, and Managers.
• Maintain smoothly operating shifts so that all of the tasks required to ensure excellent patient care and husbandry are completed by the end of each day for both Songbird Hospital and Clinic animals. Duties include but are not limited to: orchestrating the flow of volunteers, daily feeding, medicating and cleaning of all patients, intake and physical exams of patients, administering necessary medical treatments, maintaining adequate supplies and ensuring that preparation for the following day’s operations are complete by the end of the day.
• Must be able to calculate and administer PO, SQ, IM, and IV medications.
• Monitor patients under anesthesia (will train).
• Calculate and administer calorie and fluid therapy.
• Perform radiographs (will train).
• Ability to splint and wrap various types of fractures (will train).
• Capture, handling and restraint of most avian, mammal, and reptile species
• Basic understanding of most veterinary drugs (controlled and not) and their uses
• In collaboration with senior medical staff, develop and execute diagnoses and treatment plans for wildlife accepted under WildCare’s permits
• With senior staff approval, euthanize animals when necessary according to WildCare policy and AVMA standards
• Assist with selection of release sites and coordination of patient releases
• In order to provide a clear separation of duties, it is understood that those who choose to provide home foster services as a volunteer will not syringe feed, tube feed, or clean baby mammals during their scheduled and paid working hours.
• Must be cross-trained in and comfortable working in both Clinic and Songbird Hospital
• If candidate stays on past Baby Season, must attend a minimum of 12 hours annual continuing education training in the field of wildlife rehabilitation or related medical/animal care field and present learned information to staff
• Help maintain positive relationships with other agencies and wildlife hospitals
Managerial Responsibilities
• Help ensure the highest quality and consistency of patient care by enforcing the implementation of WildCare patient care protocols by all medical staff members and volunteers.

• Due to nature of responsibilities with controlled substances, must pass state and federal background check and have no pertinent criminal history.
