After-hours Emergency Line (E-Line) Volunteers!

Emergency Line (E-Line) Volunteers answer WildCare's After-hours Emergency Line from 5 - 9pm on a regularly-scheduled 4-hour shift. Our E-Line Volunteers make a real difference for wildlife!

E-Line Volunteers provide help and support for members of the public facing a wildlife situation of concern.

All training is provided, but qualified applicants must have excellent customer service skills (the job requires both patience and empathy), and an interest in learning how to help callers navigate wildlife emergencies.

You'll answer the Emergency Line from your own cell phone (the line will be forwarded, or you will log into the 8x8 app to answer calls) and you will answer and provide assistance to callers from 5pm until 9pm.

Although you will be on "your" shift on the same evening every week, the number of calls you handle will vary significantly between seasons. During Baby Season, you'll get between 5 and 15 calls per shift. During the winter, you may only get one or two. But no matter how many calls you field, you'll be making a real difference for wildlife!

The orientation will give you a deeper look at the volunteer position, the training, and the types of calls you'll handle.

After attending the orientation, interested volunteers will complete the E-Line Volunteer Application.

Based on the applications, our team will invite qualified applicants to attend the 2-part E-Line Training on July 20 and 22, 2021 from 6pm - 8pm. These classes will be presented live on Zoom.

Anyone may attend the E-Line orientation, but E-Line Volunteers must be over 18. Register here!

To apply as an E-Line volunteer, you must have attended one of the informational orientations, and completed the E-Line Volunteer application here. We will fill the E-Line shifts with the most qualified candidates.

E-Line Volunteers must commit to answering calls on their regularly-scheduled shift(s) for at least one year.
