A Sneak Peek at the Future of Wildlife Care
The day-to-day work of running a wildlife hospital doesn’t slow down, even when the future is under construction just down the road. This month, our hospital and animal care staff traded their scrubs for hard hats and walked through the construction site of WildCare’s new facility.
Guided by a contractor from Cahill, the team toured the space room by room: exam rooms, surgical suites, and dedicated wildlife areas that will soon be filled with patients on the mend. They measured, evaluated, and asked questions, picturing exactly how each space will function once real animals are in real care.
What they saw left a strong impression. The new layout, expanded medical areas, and thoughtful attention to detail are designed to meaningfully improve how rehabilitation happens for the estimated 3,500 patients WildCare treats each year. From more room to work to smarter flow between spaces, this facility is being built with the realities of wildlife medicine in mind, not just the ideal of it.
For a team that spends every day adapting to whatever comes through the door, walking through walls-in-progress and imagining what’s next was a rare and meaningful moment. The future of wildlife care in Marin County is taking shape, literally, and our staff got to see it firsthand.
