WildCare’s One Earth Young Filmmakers Award

WildCare's One Earth Young Filmmakers Grant

In mid-September, WildCare’s Alison Hermance flew to Chicago to attend the awards celebration for the 2025 One Earth Young Filmmakers Contest. WildCare was designated as the grant recipient by the filmmaker of the winning film in the Post-Graduate category, open to filmmakers aged 22–25.

The One Earth Young Filmmakers Contest began 13 years ago with the goal of engaging youth in conversations about sustainability and inspiring them to think creatively about solutions. Each winning filmmaker receives a cash prize and a matching grant of equal value to donate to a nonprofit organization of their choice. The contest is open to students from grades 3 through the college level.

WildCare was honored to be selected as a grant recipient by young French filmmaker Sofian Chouaib for his short film "Faire un documentaire animalier devant chez soi (Make a Wildlife Documentary in Front of Your Home)."

In introducing his winning film at the awards celebration, Sofian shared that he chose WildCare as his grantee organization because “[WildCare] helps injured and orphaned animals living in the city, and that really connects with the story and message of my short film.”

The film is a heartwarming and moving exploration of the resilience of nature and the adaptability of wildlife.
