Wildlife Ambassadors Move to Transition
A New (Temporary) Home for WildCare's Wildlife Ambassadors
Watch WildCare's beloved Wildlife Ambassador pool birds and our venerable Turkey Vulture, Vladimir, entering their bright and spacious Transition enclosures for the first time in the video below. Vladimir is a very elderly vulture (he's 38 years old!) and he's on medications for the limp you might notice in the video.
Later this fall, WildCare Transition will be open for the public to visit our Wildlife Ambassadors! Keep an eye on your email for updates and additional information!
Needless to say, relocating all of WildCare's programs, our wildlife patients, and our Wildlife Ambassador animals is a tremendously complicated undertaking!
The parcel of land where WildCare Transition is located is a surplus property for the San Rafael School District. It's just 10 minutes up the road from WildCare's existing site.
The challenge we faced was to construct a temporary but fully-functional wildlife hospital and nature education center able to treat and care for 3,500+ ill, injured and orphaned animals from over 200 different species, and provide appropriate housing and educational presentation space for our diverse group of educational Wildlife Ambassadors.
It has taken a lot of work and some tremendous ingenuity on the part of our team, but Transition is now a reality!
